The population of Ambongamaranitra, Andranofasika Commune, Ambato Boeny District is taking responsibility for the increase in bush fires. Fire-fighting committees have been set up. This has enabled the practice of bushfires to be gradually reduced. In order to ensure the success of reforestation activities in the area, the local population has set up several kilometres of firebreaks. The project is supported by the Tany Meva Foundation, through the Assosiation TAFITA, as part of the CEPF project.
